Best For Competitive Exams (CSS,PMS,PCS & All Descriptive Exams)
INTRODUCTION
Essays in English are the main requirement of examinations at almost all levels. Writing a good essay requires intensive study from diverse sources. There are countless books of essays available in the market but unfortunately, there's hardly any which may satisfy the students needs aptly. Moreover, the books available generally have the matter replete with verbosity, tough vocabulary, digression and unnecessary details. The matter of essays, they generally come across, also does not correspond with real life situations. This creates additional difficulty to reproduce the descriptions successfully in form of an effective and scoring essay, irrespective of other flaws which mar the performance of students. Resultantly, they are left with no option but to consult a pile of books, which is really a hard nut to crack.
Being a teacher of English blessed with years of experience, I am very well aware of the problems the students usually face while preparing for essays. Hence, keeping in view the exam requirements, College Essays is designed to meet the needs of college students. Topics of essays have been chosen considering the exam pattern and latest prevailing trend. In addition, plain language and subject matter readily convey the thoughts which students can easily retain in their memory.
I have left no stone unturned to write essays in such a way as to make them a real source of success. However, as a famous cliché goes "To err is human", there may be some errors left inadvertently in this book. If there is any mistake of omission or commission, I expect my readers to point it out. I will also welcome suggestions aimed at making this book more useful and interesting for the readers.
1 express my heartfelt gratitude to my younger brother Muhammad Arbab who encouraged my interest to go ahead.
In the end, I am greatly indebted to all the JBD staff who worked diligently to bring out this book at the earliest. My publishers also deserve special thanks as they have been kind enough to get this book published for a greater benefit of students in a very short span of time.

"Better to reign in hell, than serve in heaven"
John Milton
Something that you want to do or achieve very much is called ambition. It cannot be said that everyone necessarily has a plan of life to pursue. But most of people have some idea of a career. It is advisable that we should devise a plan of life. There must be some aims to achieve. By this way, we can lead a purposeful and healthy life.
Everyone has his own likes and dislikes. I want to lead a simple and peaceful life. I want to have basic needs of life with leisure so that I may engage in my favourite pursuits for some time daily.
Most of the professions require long working hours. They do not spare one for a moment to enjoy life. Teaching is the only profession that offers spare time on your disposal. But this is not the only reason of my choice. Teaching is my passion as well. A wise saying guides me in this regard:
"You should choose the job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life."
Teaching the youth is my ambition. Clean and spacious environment of college always fascinates me. There I meet the vibrant young ones, full of life and vigour. There, I do not have to mingle with common folk rather I meet an educated lot, neatly dressed with mature minds and pleasant attitudes.
I have a great opportunity to express my thoughts and convey my knowledge. As I am fond of reading, 1 find a suitable environment of learning in this career by consulting library and other means of study.
We listen a lot about corruption in the medical profession, engineering and civil service but education is a field of commonly honest and dedicated professionals.
Usually profession of teaching is considered an easy one but this is a misconception. An ideal teacher must be up to date. He must be aware of the new methods and techniques of teaching. He must keep abreast of all the latest developments in his subject. And all this requires is a great perseverance.
Generally, teachers rely on the tailor-made methods and techniques of teaching. I would create new ways of learning. I would pay attention to make my students true learners. I would like them to prepare themselves not only for examination but also do research work. All this is possible only establishing good communication with them. I would facilitate my students in every aspect of their academic endeavor.
